Episode 12 – The Goat, or Who is Colin?

tape

Welcome back from another fortnight apart! You can find this week’s episode as always on iTunes, and streaming right here!

We’re still reeling from all of the 360 changes the weather has been making (it’s behaving like a hormonal teenager here in New York). We hope you enjoyed the sunshine and avoided the rain.

This week is all about extremes. First up we have the delightful Rachel Begelman with a story about how her guerrilla marketing strategy attracted far more attention than she had bargained for. Hit Rachel up on Twitter @RachelBegelman.

Next up, Jolenta’s longtime friend Colin Ackerman regales us with a good old fashioned tale of the older-wealthy-person-with-sadistic-tendencies-employs-significantly-less-wealthy-younger-person-and-shenanigans-ensue variety.

Episode 11 – Facebook Activism

tape equal2

Spring has sprung (we hope we didn’t just jinx it)! and we’re back in high spirits. You can find this week’s episode as always on iTunes, and streaming right here!

This week we are honored and priviliged and also THRILLED to have a story from Cynthia Silver about her idyllic pregnancy and fairytale birth. No, not really. Cynthia came on the show to get real about her experience, and get real she does. We thank Cynthia for her candor and are extremely proud of the resulting story. You can find Cynthia on Twitter @BabyinTowCo and on her website, cynsilver.com

Next up, we have a bit of ‘found’ storytelling from Jolenta involving long lost letters from the Vietnam War… Written from Germany. Remember when people still wrote letters? We don’t either, but we like to dress up as the Crawley sisters and imagine what it must have been like. In this story you will hear the melodious voice of Michael R. Piazza, Official Friend of The Show and super terrific actor.

Also, what does your Facebook profile picture say about you? Everything. And nothing. And everything?

Enjoy the show!

Episode 10 – Advanced Topics in Internet Dating

joanbday

We’re back! It’s our 10th episode un-birthday! And we want to celebrate and congratulate ourselves by making a VERY SPECIAL 10TH EPISODE! You can subscribe on iTunes (speaking of which, our favorite un-birthday present is always a pretty shiny iTunes rating!) or stream it over here.

We are jazzed and also pumped to be continuing to bring you the latest in cutting edge, punk rock storytelling from the wildest and most un-wacky New Yorkers around.

First up, Ariana Seigel tells us when NOT to ride a motorcycle with an internet date. That may not be the point of her story, but it’s one of the things that WE took away from it. Ariana is the coolest, funniest, best girl who is also a comedian/writer/performer. Spend some time on her web page, arianaseigel.com, follow her on Twitter @AriSeigel, and support the indiegogo campain for her hysterical web series Ari and Emma: the Sketch Show. Want a sample? You’re welcome.

Following Ariana, we have a story brought to us by the Sly Mr. Rick Cekovsky, also an actor and performer and entertaining person. This is a POEM and it is in VERSE. So, that’s pretty G_D D__N impressive, if you ask us. Plus, it’s well done and pretty nifty. Find out more about Rick at rickcekovsky.com, Twitter at him @rickychex, and learn about his theater comany, The Truf, at thetruf.org.

So have a listen! Celebrate our 10th episode unbirthday with us… There is cake at the end of this link…

Enjoy the show!

Episode 9 – NinjaBall Junction

tape

Welcome back to the fortnightly half hour hour. Get the latest episode on iTunes or stream here!

This week’s show is all about adventure and sportsmanship (insofar as theme restaurants and Skeeball can be said to fall into those categories). First up we have the darling and wise Sharone Halevy’s encounter with with REAL LIFE NINJAS in downtown Manhattan, of all places. Seriously, check out this video. It’s BANANAS. These ninjas are also very gracious hosts and  concerned citizens. Sharone’s an actress, a singer, and an evil creative genius. Check out the upcoming projection of Jesus Hopped the A Train, directed by Sharone and produced by YellaFella Entertainment, at the Atlantic Stage 2 on March 21-24.

Next up, Brad Mielke’s back in the mix with a harrowing tale of love and death on the very outermost fringes of extreme sports. No, we’re not talking about Volcano Boarding or Crocodile Bungee Jumping. This here story’s about Skeeball. Brad was in our very first episode and we’re thrilled to have him back. He works for a big fancy news organization that shall go unnamed, but suffice it to say that it’s pretty cool of him to give us this story. Pretty cool indeed. You can follow Brad on Twitter @TheBradMielke.

Enjoy the show!

Episode 8 – What’s a Show Choir, and Will it Bite?

tape

Welcome back to the closet! We’ll be camped out in here until the wind dies down and it’s safe to go outside again. Responsibilities be damned! We’re taking a Yucky Weather Day (it’s like a sick day or a mental health day for when you just don’t want to bother with the weather- it’s great, you should take one too and join us for this terrific episode!)

You can find it as always on iTunes, and streaming right here!

First up we have the brilliant and prolific Colby Day reading his story, The Boy Who Had No Feelings. We don’t want to give anything away, but this story is about a boy who finds himself lacking in the emotion department. You can find him  on his website, http://www.colbyday.com, on Twitter @ColbyDay, and being hilarious with @Sweater_FriendsColby is a member of the Pipeline Theater Company, where you can frequently see his plays being performed.

Next up we have the lovely and talanted Mara Wilson telling a story of hubris, dance class, and the perils of Physical Education. You might remember Mara from her earlier career as the Cutest Kid in America, during which she appeared in such films as Matilda, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Miracle on 34th Street. Lately Mara’s been focusing her considerable talents and energies on writing and storytelling. You can check her out at marawilsonwritesstuff.com, and on Twitter @MaraWritesStuff and on Facebook.

Also, find out who Jolenta just broke up with (hint, it’s not her boyfriend or her dog), and what activity Erica swears will ensure a long and healthy life.

Enjoy!

Episode 6 – Miss Derr

tape

Welcome back to the show! This week’s episode is so good we can’t stand it.  As always, subscribe in iTunes or here.

First up, we have Home, a piece written by the brilliant Brooke Berman and performed by Jolenta and superstar-in-the-making Eric Williams. We are huge fans of Brooke’s, and of Home, so this is a good day. Please check her out at www.brookeberman.net and read her gorgeous memoir, No Place Like Home. Eric Williams you can find being witty on Twitter @EricWillz.

As if Brooke doesn’t supply enough literary brilliance for one episode, next up we have Nate Weida. Nate is a one man genius factory, a self described vagabond. We would just call him a sparkle pony. He even brought his banjo to illustrate his stories of awkward romance and anxiety (featuring two educators with terrifically unfortunate surnames). Please check him out at nateweida.com, go see his live shows (both solo and with his band Great Dog Almighty) and keep your eyes open for the theater event of the decade, I’s Twinkle.

Enjoy the show!
